Tasks for the week of April 20-24
1. Ask your parents/guardians what types of insurance they have - you do not need to ask about amounts- just types. Ask them why they have these types of insurances and why they chose that coverage.
Example - We have life insurance policies on ourselves and our children, car insurance, homeowners insurance and health insurance. We have full comprehensive/collision coverage on all vehicles because deer are a common problem.
2. What kinds of insurance require a deductible?
A deductible is the portion of the insurance you pay if you make a claim. So if I hit a deer with my car and I need it fixed I call the insurance company and they will send someone to look at it (this person is called an insurance adjuster). The insurance requires me to pay a deductible. Typically the higher the deductible, the lower the monthly payment, because the insured person is assuming a larger portion of the initial payment if a claim is made.
